Shocked as the verdicts were read, Jean Paul Jacobi, a now former Miramar Police Officer was guilty of official misconduct, criminal mischief, and falsifying records related to an illegal search of a marijuana grow house in 2010 at the end of his criminal trial on December 19th. That case was the second conviction of a police officer this month after another jury found Dewey Pressley, a former Hollywood Police Officer, guilty of falsifying records in a DUI and crash investigation on December 6th. More police officers are expected to find themselves in the defense chair net year according to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office. Recently a half-dozen detention deputies were ensnared in an investigation into contraband smuggling at the county’s Main jail. Sheriff Al Lamberti said that, “We are not above the law. We need to live at a higher standard,” and has started the investigations to hold deputies accountable for their wrongdoings instead of allowing them to resign without holding them responsible for their corruption.
