Hobbling along Hollywood Boulevard, William Joseph Knowles fended off two alleged would-be-robbers trying to steal his wallet,one wearing a bikini, with his crutches. The 59 year old said that the crutches came in handy and called the incident “a first.” He never would have believed that two young girls would attack someone. The two “young girls” of Hollywood, Amber Lynn McKay,22, and Veronica Anne Lane,21, were charged with robbery. The officer that Knowles flagged down caught the suspects after an employee of a nearby hotel told the officer the two women who matched Knowles’ description were staying there. The victim later identified McKay and Lane as the “robbers.” The two women were in the Broward County jail Tuesday with Lane’s bond set at $7,500, and McKay was being held without a bond on a violation of probation.
