Man Accused of Raping Woman He Met On Instagram

A Florida resident, age 30, was recently accused of raping a woman he had met on Instagram. According to the report, the women told the man she was in a relationship, but she later agreed to meet him as “friends. “ According to the woman, the man was intoxicated at the time of the meeting. Soon after the woman met with the man, she said she had to leave because her roommate was feeling sick. She then went on to say the man texted her asking if he “could crash on your couch.”

She said she had agreed to his request and told him the door would be left unlocked, but then she went on to say she woke up and discovered the man was having sex with her. She said she was “out of it” and did not say anything because she did not know if it was really happening. She also stated that when she woke up again, she felt the man touching her, so she moved around to let him know she was awake. According to the report, the man showed up at the women’s house a few days later and was arrested. At this time, there is no evidence of any wrongdoing other than the woman’s statement.

Strong Defense

Rape and sexual assault are serious crimes, and being accused of such crimes should never be taken lightly. If not handled correctly, this problem could ruin anyone’s future and reputation. Therefor, it’s vital to enlist the services of a Fort Lauderdale sexual assault criminal defense lawyer immediately after the complaint is filed, and failing to do so will likely prove devastating and destructive. The longer the accused waits to speak to a sexual assault criminal defense lawyer, the lower their chances of building an adequate defense. No matter how tempting it might be, nobody accused of this crime should speak to anyone, especially police, without the presence of a sexual assault criminal defense lawyer.

For the charges to stick, the court must prove beyond all doubt that the sexual penetration took place without the consent of the alleged victim. Anyone rendered mentally incapacitated is not legally able to give consent. If you or anyone you know is currently going through a similar experience, it can be terrifying and overwhelming, but you don’t have to deal with this seemingly insurmountable problem alone. Kenneth P Hassett is an experienced, professional, and efficient Fort Lauderdale sexual assault criminal defense lawyer. He can help you prepare your case, and he will give you the best possible defense. So, pick up the phone right now and give him a call at 954-791-3939.
