Trump’s Campaign Manager Arrested in Fort Lauderdale Battery Charge

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, was recently taken into police custody on charges of battery. These charges were drawn up in response to Lewandowski’s alleged physical interaction with Michelle Fields, while she was trying to ask Donald Trump a question during an interview she was conducting as a reporter in the employ of Breitbart News. The altercation was recorded on video and took place in November of 2015 at one of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign rallies in Spartanburg, South Carolina, but Corey Lewandowski was not arrested until March of 2016. Donald Trump is currently standing behind Corey Lewandowski and is denying these allegations.

Under the Florida state law, battery is defined as “intentionally causing bodily harm to another person” or “the intentional striking or touching of another person against his or her will.” Kenneth Hassett, of Hassett and Associates P.A., is a skilled Fort Lauderdale criminal defense lawyer who regularly handles cases of this nature.

Corey Lewandowski has only been accused of simple battery at this time, but there are other types of battery charges such as aggravated battery and felony battery. All of these battery charges are important and require the services of a criminal defense lawyer, but the latter two forms of battery are more serious and can result in greater legal ramifications. Charges of aggravated battery are drawn up when the assailant uses a deadly weapon to cause severe harm, permanent disability, or physical disfigurement. Whereas felony battery charges are fairly similar to regular battery charges, but the potential consequences are greater because the damage inflicted is believed to be more severe.

If you or someone you know has been arrested for a Fort Lauderdale battery charge, aggravated battery, or felony battery and is in need of a battery criminal defense lawyer, feel free to contact Kenneth Hassett, of Hassett and Associates P.A., any time.
