Two former Miami-Dade County employees of Miami-Dade’s Internal Services department, Jesus “Jay” Pons and Bruno Diaz, were arrested Tuesday for their connection with a massive overbilling scheme which was believed to have cost taxpayers millions of dollars. The arrests end the investigation into Data Industries Inc., which has earned $16 million in taxpayer-funded contracts since 2001. Pons’ wife, Diana Pons, was also arrested. These individuals are being charged with racketeering, organized scheme to defraud, and various other white-collar crimes. Prosecutors and Miami-Dade police will detail the arrests at an afternoon news conference.
