A 12-year-old middle school student allegedly choked his classmate until the the 11-year-old student passed out. The incident happened in a classroom on Thursday afternoon at Nova Middle School. Investigators believe the 12-year-old and 11-year-old got into a fight and the 12-year-old choked the 11-year-old unconscious. Fire Rescue took the 11-year-old to a hospital, but he was not seriously injured while the 12-year-old was taken to a county juvenile detention facility. He faces a simple battery charge and was released into the custody of his parents. The incident is being investigated by the superintendent of Broward Schools who released a statement Friday saying the incident was being investigated.
