Recently, there was video evidence of a Chevy Malibu driving away from two areas where women reported being raped two nights in a row. The incidents took place in the middle of August in Florida and resulted in a suspected serial rapist coming onto the police’s radar.
The suspected rapist, who is a Miami resident and 34 years old, was accused of raping the women at the beginning of the month, on August 2nd and 3rd. The two women told the investigation that they were traveling on Federal Highway in the Dania Beach area when the man suddenly drove up to them in his car. One stated that he solicited her for sex. The other reported that the man ordered her into his vehicle while brandishing a gun.
The suspect was arrested after police from Hollywood and Broward County investigated five separate incidents of sexual assault that included a weapon along Federal Highway. The incidents were dated from July 29th through August 9th, according to the arrest report.
Also, according to the report, the woman who was solicited for sex on August 2nd told police that he pulled out a gun after she was in the car. The man pulled over behind a laundromat and raped her. Afterward, he made her exit and look the other way before he took off. The next night, the woman ordered into that same vehicle was taken to an alley and raped.
The two women also said that the rapist had a box cutter in tow with which to threaten them as well. Security cameras captured images of the perpetrator, who was driving a Chevy Malibu from anywhere from 2004 to 2008 with windows that were tinted and a damaged front bumper.
When the suspect was questioned by the police, he stated that the women were falsely accusing him because he “short-changed” them. In other words, he alleged that he agreed to pay them a specific amount of money for sex but didn’t pay the full amount they agreed to, according to the arrest report. The man also claimed that he had no weapon and did not threaten the women with a gun.
The man faces charges of two counts of sexual assault with a weapon. Meanwhile, additional charges should be coming from the Hollywood police.
The judge in Broward County during a hearing ordered the man to be held at the county jail without bond.
