Roosevelt Mondesir, 59, is in custody and is allegedly connected with a 40-year old woman engulfed in flames earlier Monday morning. According to witnesses, Mondesir allegedly attacked the woman at a gas station and convenience store during an apparent domestic dispute. When the officers arrived, they immediately put out the flames, began first aid procedures, and had Fire Rescue take her to the Trauma Center at Delray Medical Center to be treated for her severe burns. Mondesir was taken to Bethesada Memorial Hospital to be treated for burns after the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office located him.
Today, a circuit court judge denied his bond, denied him a public defender, and charged him with attempted first degree murder. The horrific attack was captured by the gas station’s video cameras. According to reports, the victim met Mondesir, her former boyfriend, to pick up her 4-year-old boy from him. The boy was found at Mondesir’s home sleeping and unharmed.
