Fort Lauderdale Teacher Arrested For Child Abuse

A teacher in Hialeah, Florida has been arrested for child abuse. She has been charged with abusing three students. The teacher, 47-year old Beth Ann Nemec, was arrested on Monday, November 10, 2014. She was released from jail on a $15,000 bond. When she walked out of jail, she declined to answer any questions from reporters and attempted to cover her face.

Nemec is a first grade teacher at Horeb Christian School. Parents had stated that their children were abused by the teacher. One of the students told his parents that Mrs. Nemec slapped him and hit him on top of his head.

Another student told his parents that Mrs. Nemec grabbed him by his arm. The police did state that the boy’s arm had scratches and bruises on it. Nemec stated that she did not know she scratched the boy’s arm. Additionally, one student also stated that he was spanked by Nemec.

Carl Zogby is a police officer in Haileah. He stated that even though Nemec did not injure the body when she spanked him, she did cross the line. He also stated that teachers are not authorized to discipline students in that manner.

Mrs. Nemec was a fairly new teacher at Horeb Christian school. The school has already removed her biography and picture from the website. The police officers have stated that they take child abuse allegations very seriously. Cindy Mones De Oca is the principal at Horeb Christian School. She stated the school has a zero tolerance for child abuse.

Nemec joined Horeb Christian School last year. She started off as a substitute teacher and was employed as a full-time staff member this year. The principal stated that the school will continue to cooperate with the authorities as the investigation continues.
