Christopher Scottblevin Best, who is a 28 year-old music teacher, was arrested for having sex with a minor. He is facing 10 counts of unlawful sexual activity. According to the arrest report, the victim is a 17 year-old female.
The victim reportedly told police officers that she and Christopher engaged in sexual activity from March 2014 to September 2014. She said that two of the engaged in sexual activity twice in the music room. She also stated that the two met in motels on various occasions.
Best admitted that he did have a private relationship with the student. However, he denies that the two ever engaged in intercourse. Best was arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Center. News reporters came to Best’s home, but no one answered the door or returned the phone calls.
Eduardo Espinoza is Best’s neighbor. When he had learned that Best had gotten arrested, he stated that the relationship was inappropriate. He also stated that Best had no business having a sexual relationship with a 17 year-old.
News of Best’s arrest quickly spread at Miami Palmetto Senior High School. However, many of the students knew about the relationship long before Best was arrested. Sophia Pinto, who is one of the students at the school, stated that the affairs were common knowledge. Raul Vera, who was another student at the school, stated that Best was a very nice guy. Both students admitted that a sexual relationship between a teacher and student is always inappropriate.
Investigators are encouraging parents at the high school to talk to their children about Best’s arrest. They want to make sure that other students at the school have not had intercourse with Best. Best no longer works for Miami Palmetto Senior High School. He had been working for the school ever since 2012. He had not had any prior incidences.
