A Davie man was zapped with a stun gun after he allegedly fought with his wife, slapped his 67-year-old mother-in-law, and cussed at and challenged the police officer. In a court hearing the defendant, Edward Dewey Waters III, had his bond set at $2,100 for charges of battery on a person 65 or older, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.
Authorities originally arrived at the scene when a Davie police officer answered a domestic disturbance call at 12:44 p.m.. The officer at the scene allegedly found the front door wide open and he allegedly heard a male voice yelling inside and items being thrown. Officer David Garcia ordered the family members, three males and two females, standing inside the doorway to leave the home; however, Edward Walters allegedly refused to leave. When Walters allegedly ignored the fourth command to sit down outside, the defendant took a stance with his fist at his side and caused more of a disturbance. When Walters defiantly refused to cooperate, Officer Garcia stunned him in the chest.
