The U.S. Supreme Court has refused appeals to stop the execution of Texas prisoner Mark Stroman for a Dallas-area killing that was done in retaliation for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. He had targeted people of Middle East descent in the weeks after 9/11, killing two and wounding a third man. That lone survivor, a Bangladesh man, wanted the execution stopped so he could meet with the convict and spend time learning more about him. However, a federal judge earlier Wednesday rejected the petition and defense attorneys took the matter to the appeals courts.
