On Tuesday, Matthew Bent was convicted of aggravated battery and faces a 15 year prison sentence. Bent might receive more than the teens who admitted to dousing Brewer with rubbing alcohol and lighting him on fire. Matthew Bent was the teenager who allegedly instigated the Oct. 12, 2009 attack that left Brewer’s life endangered. The jury cleared Bent of the second-degree attempted murder charge, holding him responsible for only part of what happened in the Lime Tree Village parking lot in Deerfield Beach. The Brewer family is satisfied with the jury’s decision. For more information go to http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/broward/fort-lauderdale/fl-michael-brewer-family-reax-20120620,0,3263882.story.
