University of Miami Football Player Arrested for Domestic Battery

In the early morning hours of October 28, University of Miami defensive tackle Michael Wyche was placed under arrest and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery by South Miami. After being booked on the charge and placed in Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, Wyche remained there on $1,500 bond.

Wyche and his girlfriend had been sharing a South Miami when an argument allegedly turned physical. The police report indicated that Wyche threw his girlfriend onto a bed and also pushed her, with the woman stating that she hit her head against a wall when Wyche pushed her.

South Miami police also indicated that the 23-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries at the scene, which included a bloody lip. They also stated that the woman’s clothes were torn during the scuffle.

Wyche, who turned 23 on the day of his arrest, and the woman have been dating for the past five years and have a child together. However, there’s no indication if the child was at the home of the alleged attack.

In response to the arrest, the University of Miami’s athletic department suspended Wyche indefinitely, with Wyche’s more pressing concern being to seek a Fort Lauderdale domestic battery lawyer.
