A car jacking occurred in Fort Lauderdale that involves two perpetrators. The perpetrators were two young men, one age 20 and the other 21.
The driver of the car was captured in the vehicle after the car jacking initially occurred. Ultimately, the victim if the car jacking was able to bail out of the vehicle at about the Golden Glades interchange.
Police officers did spot the stolen vehicle. They attempted to pull the car over. The car jacking perpetrators ended up abandoning the vehicles and took off on foot.
When this occurred, the Fort Lauderdale Police and Broward County Sheriff’s Office became involved in the search for the two perpetrators. This included the use of the Broward County Sheriff’s helicopter. Both men who perpetrated the car jacking were captured.
The two men face charges of armed car jacking. They have also been charged with resisting an officer without violence. One of the men faces a charge of fleeing with disregard to safety of people or property, interfering with school administrative functions, and reckless driving. The other perpetrator also faces a probation violation charge.
No information was available on whether the men have been released from custody. Pending court proceedings have been scheduled in the case.
The driver of the vehicle that was car jacked sustained no injuries in the incident, according to law enforcement. The vehicle was returned without any significant damage.
