26 men were arrested in a child-predator investigation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said today. Among them were a Kentucky Police Lieutenant, a convicted murderer, a theme-park pastry chef, a business coach, a candy-store employee, a school computer technician and two convicted sex offenders. The “Operation Safe Summer”, a multi-agency sting, began in May and ended Thursday with the arrest of 13 of the 26 men. The goal of the project was to crack down on child sexual exploitation and abuse. The operation was part of Project Safe Childhood which is a national initiative that started in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice.
