Alicia Jahalal, a 37 year old fellow resident, was in a Broward County jail Tuesday facing a murder charge after she allegedly murdered a multiple sclerosis patient at a Fort Lauderdale halfway house.
A resident told police he saw Jahalal sitting on top of D’Elia–who used a wheelchair but was on the floor–and Jahalal had her hands around D’Elia’s throat.
When the police officer arrived at the scene, he/she found D’Elia in a pool of blood. According to authorities she was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where she died. A large steak knife with blood on it was found inside the washing machine.
The Broward medical examiner ruled that D’Elia died from multiple stab wounds.
