TSA Agent Arrested For Trafficking Cocaine

A TSA officer in Miami, Florida was placed in jail after being arrested on several criminal charges, including a charge of cocaine trafficking. The thirty-three-year old Latwana Shaneaka Daniels appeared in bond court on Sunday, June 22, 2014 and was denied bond.

According to the arrest affidavit, a warranted search was performed on her home, located in Southwest Miami-Dade, on June 21, 2014. Detectives found 111 grams of cocaine and 39 grams of marijuana, as well as $139,000 in cash hidden in the wall. The detectives also discovered a loaded Beretta PX4 handgun in a place that was easily accessible to her four children.

The arrest affidavit also states that detectives found tools for processing the drugs in Latwana Daniels’ master bedroom and kitchen, all of which had cocaine residue on them. The affidavit states that the tools, such as beakers and scales, were used for cooking raw cocaine to be processed into crack cocaine.

Monica Forest, a neighbor of Daniels’, reported that she had no idea about what was going on inside Daniels’ home until she saw the cops outside. “It was 5:30 or so, and I noticed that there was a bit of excitement over there,” she said. “It turned out to be two police cars, but we had no idea what was going on.”

The police complaint states that Daniels’ children were home during drug transactions. Latwana Daniels faces four child neglect charges. As of Sunday, it was still unclear where her children were. The Transportation Security Administration has stated that Daniels is on administrative leave and that they plan to terminate her employment by the time of her trial.
